MICHIGAN LOG CABIN LOCATED ON 120+/- WOODED ACRES - ON PRIVATE CAMP LAKE! This recreational parcel is located just South-East of Calderwood, an historic Logging Era location. It is found in Interior Township, in south eastern Ontonagon County in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (South of Trout Creek). Calderwood was established in the 1880s by a group of Minnesota men who organized a lumbermill there. Calderwood Lumber Company had a band sawmill, a planer, edgers, and trimmers. As was the custom then, the Company owned its own "Short Line" - 14 miles railroad track, had its own electric light plant and commissary. It produced ash, basswood, birch, elm, hemlock, hard and soft maple, red oak, white pine, spruce, tamarack boards, lath from hemlock timbers, and small dimension stock. "Lumberjacks" performed the initial harvesting and transporting of trees to nearby mills. They lived in lumber camps, and usually lived in primative cabins, bunkhouses or tents. The Dicksons, a prominent family who owned a general store in nearby Watersmeet, were also loggers. They built a Logging Cabin on the north side of Camp Lake, which was later used as a hunting cabin. This water body has 20 miles of shoreline with many coves and more than 20 islands. The Flowage has two public access sites. Coolwater fish present include, but are not limited to, walleyes, northern pike, minnows, suckers, sunfishes, yellow perch, bullheads, and muskellunge. There have been eight State of Michigan Master Angler awards taken from Bond Falls Flowage from 19932006. Water leaving the reservoir become the Bond Falls, a scenic 50-Foot waterfall which tumbles over a thick belt of fractured rock, dividing it into numerous small cascades.
